Loading SHARP AR-800 POS Terminal
(Maitre'D 1999)
A) With Maitre'D DOS
Please remember to install an ER-03MB prior to performing the following
procedure.
With the ER-A800 terminal powered OFF, connect your APLD
cable into the ER-A800 COM1 port. COM1 is the 9 pin serial port located
closest to the back center of the ER-A800 terminal.
Set the dip switches located on the right side of the terminal, behind
the little door to:

Power on the ER-A800 terminal and it will enter APLD receive mode.
From the Main Menu select P.O.S. Control / UTILITIES / WORKSTATION DISKETTE.
This will bring to a screen asking you for a workstation number.
Press 1 and ENTER. Next, select the workstation type by pressing the TAB
key and choosing either ER-A850 or ER-A880. This process will take a few
minutes as the data to be downloaded to the terminal is built. A warning
screen will follow suggesting the APLD cable be checked and the ER-A800
terminal be set in APLD mode.
Simply press ENTER and F3 and the loading of the ER-A800 terminal will
start.
During the load, the ER-A800 will display each file as it is loaded into
the terminal. When completed, the ER-A800 will reflect completion and
the PC will return to the prompt asking you for a workstation number.
Simply press F1 to exit at the PC.
Power off the ER-A800 terminal. Before restarting the ER-A800, place all
the dip switches to the ON position. Power up the ER-A800 terminal, the
program will automatically load from RAM and you are ready to practice
your demo.
B) With Maitre'D Windows
Note: This will only work with Maitre'D
- Close all your Windows applications.
- Click on START on your Windows taskbar.
- Click on SHUTDOWN.
- Click on Restart in MS- DOS mode and OK.
- Start your MAITRE'D program in DOS
- Follow procedure explained at the top of this document:
- Restart your computer in Windows.
