Passwords and Access Editor

(Maitre'D 2002)

Maitre'D Back-Office / Tools / Password and Access Editor

This option allows the creation and modification of Back-Office passwords and assignments of menu access.
There are 8 levels of passwords in this system. Level zero is the highest and can access levels 1 to 8. Level 1 may access levels 2 to 8. A lower level access may not have more accesses than a higher level. E.g. Level 5 may only have access to those options available in 6 to 8.
Note: Level zero contains the Distributor's / Dealer's password that is currently entered by pressing the space bar twice in the demo program. The level zero password permits access to all system options and cannot be restricted. In a live environment, the dealer must always delete the level zero password and use the date sensitive password as their back door to their customer's systems. In addition, the customer must only be given access to the Back-Office menus and / or options required for their daily restaurant and systems management.

Maitre'D Back-Office / Tools / Password and Access Editor / Password Editor

The Password Editor option allows to create new passwords for your customers. The highest end user level is System Owner Access Level. The restaurant owner and / or general manager should use that top level. You can use lower levels for other end users such as assistant managers and accountants. When you access the password editor option, the system asks to select an access level.
Enter the access level to modify. The Password Editor screen displays.
Following is a description of the different set up fields:

Password:

You have to enter the password name. The password can be alphanumeric and can have a maximum of 8 characters.

Fast Access:

Enable this option to make the Setting button available. This allows to assign different Maitre'D tasks to an access level. The end user using an access level with the fast access field enabled does not access the Maitre'D Back-Office menus, but is brought instead only to the tasks the access level is limited to. From there, the end user can execute any of those tasks.
  1. Click Setting to select tasks from Maitre'D Back-Office for this access level.
  2. Click Add to include a new task.
  1. Highlight the task to be executed when selected by the end user, and click OK.
  2. To enter any other task for the same access level, repeat steps 2 to 4.

Advanced Access:

This option can only be used in conjunction with the Fast Access. When it is enabled, the user of the access level can get out of the task menu to add tasks to his own access level.

Shortcut Access:

This field can be setup from access levels 2 to 8. It enables the hyperlink contained in the Maitre'D Back-Office.

Language:

Select the appropriate language for this access level.

Maitre'D Back-Office / Tools / Password and Access Editor / Access Editor

This screen allows to select which menu selection each access level is restricted to.
NOTE: You can not restrict the distributor password.
When the screen displays a green checkmark, the menu or option is available with this access level. When the screen displays a red "X", the menu or option is not available with this access level. To modify access, double click on the appropriate selection, or choose the option and then click on Toggle.
Note: A plus (+) sign in front of an option means that there is a sub menu for that option.

Secret Password Configuration

In the event that the password to the Back-Office is unknown, a distributor may gain access to the Back-Office using the date sensitive / secret password. Under no circumstances should the date sensitive / secret password configuration be given to the customer.
When you are ready to go "LIVE" with a system, you need to change the dealer password. Use the Password Editor option as explained earlier in this section and select level 0.
Enter the letters PSI for the password code. The dealer password works with any three letter combination such as POS. But to keep it standard, it is preferable you use PSI.
As soon as you enter a three-letter code, six letters are required as a password.
Here's how it works:
1. Six letters make up the password. 1 2 3 4 5 6
2. P,S,I are the letters for 2,4,6.

NOTE: The Date Sensitive / Secret Password conforms to the date format currently used by your PC. The date format is also displayed on the log on screen of the Maitre'D Back-Office password screen. Using the example above, if the date displays in "DD-MM-YY" format, the following password applies: BPJSJI.As you can see, the Date Sensitive / Secret Password changes daily.
