Initial Setup and Programming

(Maitre'D 2002-2003)

PROGRAMMING

The CVM unit has a number of programming options that can be modified by the end user: Custom Logo for attached printer, Printer Control Codes, Target Times for all 5 screens, Drive Through terminal number(s) designation, designation of PARK screen, and the Order Status Mask.

TO ACCESS THE PROGRAMMING SCREEN:

  1. RESET THE CVM, THE RAM TEST WILL EXECUTE.
  2. THE GRID PATTERN AND LOGO WILL DISPLAY.
  3. AT BUMP BOX NUMBER 1, HOLD DOWN THE RESTORE BUTTON THE NON-VOLATILE MEMORY PROGRAMMING SCREEN WILL DISPLAY.
The programming options will be displayed along with a picture of the programming keyboard for bump box #1.

LOGO:

Positioning the cursor at the appropriate position, entering the ASCII code for the character you want, and pressing ENTER, enters the logo. Valid ASCII codes are 032 - 127. Please note that all ASCII codes are entered in decimal, not hex. Refer to the conversion table for these codes. You may wish to center your logo by padding with space characters. The logo supports up to five lines of print. If it is desired to have less than a five lines logo you may disable any line by entering two ASCII 122 characters (Lowercase "z") as the first two characters on any logo line. These two characters will cause that line, along with its corresponding linefeed, not to be sent to the CVM-controlled printer(s).

PRINTER CODES:

These codes are used for controlling the printers attached to the CVM. Position the cursor on the appropriate line, enter the control code, and press Enter. Refer to the printer control code table for the codes. Please note that all printer control codes are entered in decimal, not hex.

TARGET TIMES:

Enter the time limit for IDEAL PREP TIME for each of the five monitors. Entering zero may disable target time tracking. Target times are entered as number of seconds. I.E. Two minutes would be entered as 120.

DRIVE TERMINAL NUMBER:

The number entered here designates this terminal as drive through. Any terminal numbers that are equal to or greater than this number are also considered to be drive through terminals. This is very useful in a double register drive through. Orders from the drive terminals display on the top four columns of the monitors when they are switched into the split screen mode.

DRIVE SCREEN NUMBER:

This entry designates which screen will have the PARK function available. This is used for PARKing vehicles in the drive through lane when food prep time will be excessive. In addition, any items programmed to go to any monitor will appear on this screen. This will allow the drive-thru terminal(s) to have PLU files identical to those at the counter. To disable this feature, enter zero in this field.

ORDER STATUS MASK:

This entry applies to terminals that have the capability of sending the order status. These terminals have the option of sending the status (EAT HERE, TAKE OUT, DRIVE-THRU) to the CVM where it is displayed. If this terminal option is enabled, the CVM will display the appropriate status with each order. However, there may be cases where it is undesirable to display one or more of the types of status. Entering the appropriate number in this field may individually disable them. Refer to the chart below for these entries:
Do not display any status = Disable in terminal options
Do not display EAT HERE = 1
Do not display TAKE OUT = 2
Do not display DRIVE-THRU = 4
Display all status's = 0
Any two of these options may be combined to allow only one order status to be displayed.

TO EXIT THE PROGRAM MODE:

Position the cursor on the lower-most entry of the screen and press ENTER. You will be prompted to either exit and discard changes, EXIT AND SAVE, or CONTINUE EDITING. Make your selection and press ENTER. The CVM will dump the programmed data to CVM printer #1, if one is attached. Once the above information was programmed it will be retained by the CVM until it is reprogrammed. This information is retained even if the CVM is turned off or the power is interrupted.
