System Overview
(Maitre'D 2002, and later versions of Maitre'D)
Maitre'D is a real time client/server based system. The software can be
installed on almost any network system supporting Net BIOS and TCP/IP
protocols. Since the application was developed for Windows, we suggest
that you use the Microsoft network for communication.
Back-Office Server
The Back-Office Server function is the network server and the Back-Office
server for the Maitre'D application. The Back-Office Server serves as
the central place for all information to reside.
Touch screen Workstation
The DOS touch screen workstations can boot from the floppy drive and load
all the drivers and communication Net BIOS protocol necessary to communicate
with the LAN or they can load at startup under Windows operating system.
Once the communication is established, the workstation acts as a client
for the Back-Office PC server and loads the application and database software
into the memory or onto the hard drive.
Printing
Each touch screen workstation can serve as a printer server and each printer
connected to it is available to any workstation on the network.
