(Maitre'D 2003, from Service Pack 4 and later versions of Maitre'D)
P.O.S. Control / Workstation / Option / Advanced
Maitre'D supports workstations with the Windows CE .NET Operating System
and the X86 microprocessor. These diskless terminals use a CompactFlash
Memory Card instead of a Hard Drive, so you will need to copy the workstation
booting program to a CompactFlash Card. You can use any low cost memory
card reader model supporting the CompactFlash type attached to the main
Maitre'D server. For instruction on installing this device, please refer
to the appropriate manuals provided with your memory card reader. Also
make sure it is compatible with the Windows Operating System currently
running on the Maitre'D server. To create this workstation's CompactFlash
"Disk", follow these steps;
Make sure the workstation is currently connected
to the Maitre'D server through the TCP/IP protocol. You could perform
some ping functions to test your network.
Once your network is properly setup, switch the workstation
power off, and remove its CompactFlash Memory Card.
Set the Operating System field to Windows CE .NET,
and the Workstation Type field to X86. The "Copy Flash Disk"
button that is needed in Step 5 will only appear with this combination.
Click on the "Create Data" button, and
let Maitre'D create a data and boot program folder on the server for this
workstation.
Click the "Copy Flash Disk" button.
The message "Please insert Flash Disk"
displays. Insert the CompactFlash Card in the memory card reader connected
to the Maitre'D Server, wait a few seconds for the CompactFlash Card to
be recognized, and click OK.
Select the Root of the CompactFlash Memory Card within
the folder browser, and then click OK. The files, folder and application
needed to boot the workstation are copied to the CompactFlash Disk.
Once the copy is completed, click OK, remove the
CompactFlash Card from the memory card reader of the Maitre'D server,
and insert it in the CE.NET X86 workstation before switching its power
on.
Note: In Maitre'D 2002 and 2003, 32 Mb of Memory is required, but 64
Mb is recommended. In Maitre'D 2005 and above, 64 Mb of Memory is required.
