(Maitre'D 2005, from Service Pack 2 and later versions of 2005)
You can trigger the use of a Special Tax below a certain check total, with
the exception of certain items in a particular Divisions Category.
Note: This was developed for the province of Ontario, in Canada, but
may be useful in other areas.
P.O.S. Control / Revenue Center / Divisions Category
Pop and Snack Category:
Enable this option for items on which the Regular tax always applies,
even when the threshold amount is not met.
P.O.S. Control / Revenue Center / Divisions
Category:
Choose the above Category for items belonging to this division.
P.O.S. Control / Payments / Taxes / Rate
Regular Tax
Start by creating a first Regular tax, which applies by default.
Minimum Taxable:
Enter the threshold amount over which the Regular tax will always apply.
Special Tax:
Select the Exemption tax to apply only if the Minimum Taxable is not reached.
Exemption Tax
Then, create a second Exemption tax, that applies only if the threshold
amount is not reached.
Minimum Taxable:
Leave at $ 0.00.
Special Tax:
Select the Regular tax to apply when the threshold amount is reached.
P.O.S. Control / Revenue Center / Options
Special Tax:
Make sure to disable the Special Tax option in all Modes, so that the Exemption
tax is not always applied by default.
To trigger the use of the Exemption tax according to the check total,
you must add the following configuration key and value in the [Miscellaneous]
section of the Bo.ini file under the C:\Posera\MaitreD\Data directory:
SpecialTax=401
where 401 is the amount of cents the check total is compared with to determine
if the Regular or Exemption tax should apply.
Note: When modifying the Bo.ini, first stop the Server through Server
Control, then exit both the Server Control and P.O.S. Control modules,
modify the Bo.ini Configuration Key and Value, and only then start the
Server again before redoing workstation data.
