Custom Crystal Reports on the Workstation

(Maitre'D 2005, from Service Pack 1 and later versions of Maitre'D)

Report Center / Report / Custom Reports

To give management powerful reporting on the workstation, you can customize 40 columns reports from the Report Center to be generated and printed on a workstation printer. Reports pertaining to the P.O.S. Control, Time and Attendance and Inventory Management modules can thus be made available at the front of the house.

 

These reports can be accessed through the Detailed Report button within the Function screen.

 

For example, some 40 columns custom reports for the Point Of Sale could be:

The following Crystal 10 reports are available on the Maitre'D web site.

Note: Crystal 10 is not compatible with Windows 98 or NT on the Main Server.

After creating your own 40 columns report using Crystal Report, you must link it through the Report Center.

Note: To learn more about creating reports in Crystal Report, refer to the documentation supplied by Crystal.

New Report

Report Center / Report / Custom Reports / Custom Report Properties / Description

Report Title:

Enter the description that will appear on the workstation screen.
Note: You must also enter a Report Name and a Report ID.

Modify

Choose the appropriate filter. Currently, reports affected by one the following filters can be made available:

Choose the appropriate configuration and data files.

Report Center / Report / Custom Reports / Custom Report Properties / Applications

Modify

Click on MODIFY.

ADD

Highlight the POS choice in the possible application frame, on the right, and click on ADD.

Make sure the POS application was moved to the available applications frame, on the left, and click on OK.

The POS application is listed in the Applications window. Click on OK, and exit from the Report Center module.

P.O.S. Control / View / Options / Configuration / POS

You can control of the timeout when generating a custom Crystal Report on the Point Of Sale, to avoid monopolizing the Back-Office Report Center module for too long.
Enter the number of seconds in the following field:

Report Timeout

Note: After this delay has expired, a "Timeout During Report Generation" message will be displayed. 30 seconds is the recommended default.

P.O.S. Control / Employees / Configuration / P.O.S. Report / Selection

You must give employees access to these reports for them to be able to generate them from the workstation.
To give employees access to ALL Custom 40 Columns Reports from the Point Of Sale, enable the following option:

Note: This option is usually reserved to the Manager configuration.

On the workstation's Function screen, touch:

Detailed Report

On the Detailed Report screen, touch the Report Title you entered in the first step.

Touch the proper filter.

Wait for the Back-Office to generate the report and send it to the workstation

Note: If the delay entered in the Report Timeout field of P.O.S. Control / View / Options / Configuration / POS expires, a "Timeout During Report Generation" message will be displayed.

Touch OK to print the report on the workstation's 40 columns printer.
